World’s Greatest Street Preacher

I've written about the worst street preacher ever, but would you like to know about the best?

You've probably heard him on a street corner before. He's very compelling. His message is relatable and accepted by most of humanity. His bold pronouncements are hard to dispute. He draws in a big crowd.

He argues with examples that illustrate cause and effect. He pronounces judgment on the vulnerable and predicts their doom.

He doesn't go by his real name. He uses several pseudonyms: Righteousness, Truth, and Certainty. You can find him almost anywhere. Philosophy, theology, pop culture, the marketplace, and certainly in politics. He's comfortable in the company of progressive and conservative alike.

To the comfortable, he offers a false sense of security. He assures the overconfidence, "You prosper because you followed this path." To those in pain, he shouts, "I know what you did- and this is why you're sick!"

His real name is Karma. His message reflects a very contemporary understanding of the word.

Karma is constantly at odds with my friend Grace.

One preacher tells us the world is constrained and controllable, and the other challenges us to believe there's more out there for us to learn and discover.

Here's a question for us to consider; will we give audience to Grace or Karma?

One is a strong preacher, and the other is a great listener and guide. I choose the listener.
