Quiescent

Quiescent:

Adjective

A period of inactivity or dormancy.

That feeling like you're going nowhere slowly.

No one is calling, and no one's expectations of you have changed.

Like a seed underground with no water or light.

But then, something happens. The ground shakes and It rains unexpectedly to break the drought.

Opportunity sends a perfect pass.

Hope gets an unexpected breakaway.

We like thinking of our potential in terms of what that lucky break could open up in terms of possibilities. At least I do.

However, years ago, my life became more fulfilling when I became focused on helping to create breakaway moments for members of my team. The questions that inspire me the most in my career are the ones where I ask myself about what I’m doing to add value to the lives of those around me.

What am I nurturing in others?

Am I creating ideal growing conditions?

Am I providing enough sunlight, energy, and care for those I work with?

I realize that I may never be the most dynamic, forward-thinking leader that my teammates will work with. However, I can choose to care. You don’t need an MBA for that. In my experience, a leader who genuinely cares can make a significant difference.

Thanks for reading, friend, may you find an opportunity this week to shake the quiescent careers of the diamonds in the rough around you.
